Hair Growth Products

April 1st, 2009

If you are a man or a woman and your hair starts to fall out then chances are you may be tempted to try some hair growth products to stop the hair falling out or just to try and make it look thicker. But as usual with so many products and treatments available it can leave you scratching your head wondering if there is a way to prevent hair loss, so what is available?

The ones that are really heavily advertised are the ones where there is a lot of money to be made by cosmetic surgery in the form of transplants or by the pharmaceutical companies in the forms of drugs. Lets look at these first.

Getting a hair transplant is not cheap, prices vary but it is always in the thousands no matter if your currency is Euros, Pounds or Dollars and more often than not it is a course of treatment and not a one off and these treatments can be painful. For most people then, surgery is not an answer purely down to price.

A cheaper alternative is to use a drug produced by one of the pharmaceutical companies. Now these products do work and how they work is that they reduce testosterone which causes DHT, which in turn causes baldness. There is a negative to using these products though and that is that it can cause some kind of impotence in some men, so that is something to bear in mind. Also if you stop the medication then your hair will start to recede again.

That being the case are there any alternatives? Well thankfully yes because it seems that mother nature always has something up her sleeve to help and hair loss is no different, so following are some things you can buy as supplements or from health shops to help prevent hair loss:-

Saw Palmetto – No-one is really certain why saw palmetto works effectively, but it is thought that it contains something in it which blocks an enzyme which turns testosterone into DHT, and if you remember from before DHT is what causes hair loss.

Nettles – Thats right nettle root extract is also meant to be beneficial for fighting hair loss too, as it is high in vitamins A and C and has lots of other ingredients to it that again have been found to be effective in preventing DHT.

The Final 2 products which you should be able to get from any good grocery store or supermarket are Rosemary and Sage. Basically you can use these along with some nettles to make a lotion to wash your hair with and the benefits of this is that it cleans the scalp and stimulates and thickens the hair root all in one go for you.

There is one way to get all of these hair loss products together in one go and that is with a product called Provillus. Provillus is a natural treatment for hair loss containing all the the above ingredients and more and they also have different supplements for both men and women. You can find out more about Provillus hair loss treatment at howtopreventhairloss.org
