You can always try stop smoking herbs

Stop smoking herbs can help you give up the smoking habit. They help in combating the withdrawal symptoms that every smoker faces when he tries to give up smoking. Among other things, the herbal cures lead to positive mood swings and reduce the urge to light another cigarette.

Some of the natural substances that can be used by people when they quit smoking are:

1. Lobelia or Indian Tobacco: It has the same effect as nicotine though it is not addictive. You can get it in a dried state or as a liquid extract and take it whenever you crave for nicotine.

2. Mimosa tea: Giving up smoking may make you feel anxious, or give you a headache. A strong cup of Mimosa tea can boost your mood and help you calm down. It is not addictive and is recommended for use instead of anti-depressant medicines. Similarly, the traditional Chinese CaoSu herb diminishes the desire to smoke.

3. Non-tobacco cigarettes: These look like regular cigarettes and are available in many flavors like burnt sienna and menthol. They offer the same sensation while smoking as regular cigarettes but are healthier because they don?t contain nicotine or tar.

However, you must consult your doctor before taking herbal medicines, because many of them may contain substances similar to drugs.

You must also eat lots of raw or lightly steamed fresh fruits and vegetables and drink lots of water, fruit juice, herbal tea, etc, to flush out the nicotine. Try taking hot baths, whirlpool baths and saunas. These make you feel better, and reduce the urge to smoke. Another way to fight the craving for nicotine is to chew on a large flavored toothpick, or squirt juice into your mouth. Similarly, drinking herbal tea, which is made from five different herbs, can help you to fight the urge to smoke.

Stop smoking help

Smokers today have access to different types of stop smoking help like medicines, counseling and self-help materials. These are especially useful for those smokers who find it very difficult to deal with the withdrawal symptoms when they stop smoking.

A most useful help is the free telephone counseling service run by different states. These services provide smokers access to trained counselors. The counselors answer all questions raised by smokers, and guide them in building a support network of family and friends. They also tell them about the different kinds of stop smoking treatment, and encourage them to make use of them.

The encouragement and support provided by family, friends, co-workers, also plays a very important role in helping smokers to quit smoking. Smokers can get information about support groups from hospitals, health insurance companies, or even from their employers. However, the most useful help continues to come from skilled counselors, who can guide the smokers well.

Similarly, self-help groups and clinics can help smokers to quit. Studies show that smokers who attend a specialist clinic are four times more likely to succeed in giving up smoking, than those who rely on self-control alone. Some people have benefited from acupuncture and hypnosis, which may be worth trying.

Nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) uses a skin patch, nasal spray, inhaler, chewing gum, or tablets to provide small doses of nicotine. This helps smokers to get over the withdrawal symptoms. NRT may double a smoker's chances of quitting smoking, as compared to those who take no therapy.

Another druf that is gaining popularity is the anti-depressant medicine Bupropion. This chemical is sold under the brand name Zyban, and is the first non-nicotine medication approved by the FDA. The treatment lasts from 8 to 12 weeks and should be started at least a week before the smoker decides to leave smoking.

It is for you to decide which help suits you most.
